100+girls | Description: College freshman Matthew (Jonathan Tucker) falls in love with a mystery woman in a girls' dorm elevator during a blackout. Though he can't see her, they share a tender moment, intimate on both a physical and emotional level. The thing is...he never sees her face! He knows that she lives in the dorm...which narrows his possibilities down to 100 girls! A witty script and a hip young cast featuring Katherine Heigl (ROSWELL), Jaime Pressly (JOE DIRT), and Marisa Ribisi (DAZED AND CONFUSED) headline this youthful sex comedy with a surprising feminist bent. Year: 2000 Classification: Comedy Directed: - Michael Davis Actors/Actresses: - Jonathan Tucker as Matthew - Emmanuelle Chriqui as Patty - Catherine Heigl as Arlene - Larisa Oleynik as Wendy - Jaime Presly as Cynthia - James DeBello as Rod - Marisa Ribisi Great movie. I just saw this movie and it is one of the best teen movies I have seen in awhile. I really enjoyed American Pie, as this movie has many similarities to that one. The characters are all very interesting, including Rod who I found funny for some reason or another. The story is also very interesting to watch, as you have no clue as to who Matt will end up with in the end, I was suprised who it was. Overall, it was a very enjoyable movie. I am disapointed that this movie will not be released in theaters in the U.S. as it was in Europe though, it will lose a lot of publicity this way... Watch it. Lots of laughs, lots of truth I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It has that feel of another cheap teen movie, but in the process of telling the story of one boy's search for his true love, it comes across many truths about the state of relationships between men and women. The key is knowing what's meant to be profound and what's meant to be hilarious. As a male, I must admit that it's hard to ignore all of the eye candy. This movie features many very attractive ladies. However, the movie capitalizes on the beauty of its cast by showing how beauty, or the idea of what is beautiful, has an unexpected impact on the different sexes. Beyond that, I laughed throughout the movie. Matt's growth while searching for his lover presented many opportunities to engage in humorous antics with the ladies of the "Virgin Vault." My two favorite scenes are the foosball games with Katherine Heigl's character Arlene and the pillow fight with Larissa Oleynik's Wendy, namely when her mom walks in. As a hopeless romantic, I of course loved the idea of searching for lost true love and the movie didn't disappoint. I certainly did not expect the elevator girl to turn out to be... I've seen my fair share of romantic comedies and this was a definite surprise. Lastly, I must applaud the writing. In particular, I think I'm going to steal Matt's "Promise Speech." Funny, touching, and sensitive, it just seems like something a hopeless romantic ought to spew to his love. All in all, this is a great movie that I highly recommend. However, it only works as a great film if you understand what to take seriously and what to laugh at. A Hidden Gem I really enjoyed this superbly-written movie, though I reluctantly group it in the teen movie genre with others like "American Pie." Although the teen flick feel endears this movie to many, I think it has a deeper power behind it that places it above the other movies in its genre. I think it cleverly explores male-female relationships and roles in modern society with wit and witticism. The main character, Matt, discovers his own thoughts and feelings on the gender gap through his experiences as a maintenance man for an all-female dorm, coupled with his nightmarish semester in a Women's Studies class led by an uber-feminist. The realizations he comes to make a lot of sense and thankfully the movie calls out both chauvinists and feminists, dissects both sides, and finally finds a healthy compromise between the two using for examples the real-life experiences we have all had. The movie really gets to the meat-and-potatoes issues that men and women alike face on a daily basis. I think that this movie succeeded in doing what "What Women Want" tried to do (though I liked that movie also) because instead of giving the main male character a superpower-like gift, it places Matt in a real-life (albeit extremely fortunate) circumstance, which allow him the opportunity to intimately explore the opposite sex, as well as discover a lot about his own sex and sexuality. I think that if nothing else, this movie invites us to explore our own feelings towards the sexes in a lighthearted manner. I highly recommend this movie to singles and couples alike.
