Barbie as Rapunzel | Year: 2002 Directed: - Owen Hurley Barbie in her second animated movie Everybody's favorite 11-inch fashion doll stars as the girl with the impossibly-long hair, in this new version of "Rapunzel" - BARBIE AS RAPUNZEL. Barbie tells the story of "Rapunzel" to little sister Kelly, who is having a hard time deciding on what to paint. The story of Rapunzel is a lovely old-fashioned one, with a few nifty modern touches. When Rapunzel discovers a magical silver paintbrush, she unwittingly uncovers the key to her freedom and her destiny. Kept a virtual prisoner by the evil witch Gothel (voiced by Anjelica Huston), Rapunzel and her two friends; wily rabbit Hobie and kind dragon Penelope (voiced by Cree Summer), spend their days serving Gothel and her evil minions. When Rapunzel discovers the handsome Prince Stefan and his family, she falls in love and decides to take back control of her life; and in doing so brings peace and harmony to two warring kingdoms. Unlike the original story, Rapunzel doesn't rely on her Prince to suddenly rescue her; she goes after HIM! Also, she does not rely on her long hair to create an escape from her isolation. As with BARBIE IN THE NUTCRACKER, purists will be shocked at the liberties taken with the original storyline, but it is told with style, wit and a lot of charm. Highly recommended. Another great movie from Barbie I love watching this movie with my 5 and 3-year-old kids. This is truely a fun and enjoyable movie for kids of all ages and even adults. Also this movie is very child-friendly with very little frightening scenes compared to Barbie's first movie "Barbie in the Nutcracker". Even the evil Gothel wasn't that scary compared to the evil Mouse King. The picture quaility is very good, and the music is delightful. I'll recommend this movie to everyone. I Greatly Dissaprove This barbie movie is very boring with no plot or action. My children greatly disliked this movie. But one good side effect was that it put them to sleep, so now i love it!
