| Black Sabbath - Paranoid Band: Black Sabbath Tracks: - War Pigs/Luke's Wall - Paranoid - Planet Caravan - Iron Man - Electric Funeral - Hand of Doom - Rat Salad - Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots Let there be Metal! Paranoid is propably Black Sabbath's ultimate achievement. Maybe it is the ultimate achievement of metal the past 30 years. If you just started to listen to metal, this album is a must. If you are an old dog, then you already know what I am talking about.
Black Sabbath was at the time, years ahead of their time. They delivered a very different look on the world, than was usualy Present in the musical releases of the day.
Where most musicians sung about "Picking flowers in the rain", Black Sabbath sung:"Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind". Sabbath had an entirely different, much darker(more realistic?) view on the world around them.
I think most metal fans will agree with me that Sabbath are the godfathers of heavy metal, and that their contribution to heavy metal is beyond measure.
The albums includes Immortal classics like War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man. But the fact remains that all the tracks on Paranoid is of very high quality. The jazzy and trippy Planet Caravan, and the evil Electric Funeral and Fairies Wear boots are all top notch.
Honestly it is one of the few albums without any fillers. Everything on this album is relevant, there is not too much or too little.
If you only buy one heavy metal album ever, this should be it. But after hearing it I don't think you will be able to stop yourself from buying more...but do yourself the favour of at least getting this one You'd have to be paranoid not to like this album This was the album that pushed Black Sabbath to their godlike status as the original heavy metal band, and with good reason. This album produced most of the essential Black Sabbath classics (War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, Fairies Wear Boots) as well as Electric Funeral, a non-hit track that more than holds its own. Unfortunately, the sound quality isn't great, a problem that was also Present on their debut album. Nonetheless, this is Ozzy Osbourne at his best, at least until he left for his solo career. See below for some track-by track comments and letter grades. War Pigs: One of the essential Sabbath classics, here Ozzy delivers some of his best and most memorable vocals. A Paranoid: The title track proves to be yet another Sabbath classic. This is a fast-paced track that doesn't last very long, but it's sure tough to forget. A Planet Caravan: This is a gloomy and melodic track, in which Ozzy sounds like he's drowning in a bathtub. Though a good track overall it just can't hold its own against the hits. B- Iron Man: Black Sabbath's most popular song by far. Here we get some of the most memorable lyrics from any hard rock song, and Tony Iommi playing some of his best riffs. A classic, no doubt. A Electric Funeral: Gloomy and hard, Ozzy's incarnation of Sabbath has NEVER sounded this good. This track even manages to surpass the countless Sabbath classics found here. A+ Hand of Doom: Rocker with a slightly more blues-oriented sound to it than the other tracks, but nothing too memorable. B- Rat Salad: Hard rocking instrumental, this basically sounds like a cross between every song on the album but without lyrics. Kind of a waste if you ask me. C Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots: This track is two parts. Jack The Stripper is a hard rocking instrumental sequence that shows just how much classic Sabbath rocks. And, of course, Fairies Wear Boots is a Sabbath hard rocker with a light blues touch to it. Good track. A

Paranoid is a classic hard rock/heavy metal album that stands the test of time. Thirty years after its release, it still stands as an essential album for all fans of the genre. After this Ozzy would release six other albums with Sabbath, but how would they measure up? AWESOME!!!!! THIS IS AN AWESOME ALBUM. OF THE THREE METAL BANDS OF THE '60'S AND EARLY 70'S (LED ZEPPELIN, Deep Purple & BLACK SABBATH) I THINK BLACK SABBATH IS THE BEST. THERE ARE FOUR HITS ON THIS ALBUM, THEY ARE "WAR PIGS", "PARANOID", "IRON MAN" & "FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS". BUT ALL THE OTHER SONGS ARE AWESOME TOO. HERE'S A BREAKDOWN OF THE TRACKS: WAR PIGS-THIS IS AN AWESOME ANTI-WAR PIECE WITH A VERY LONG AND AWESOME INSTRUMENTAL PART AT THE END. A+ PARANOID-ANOTHER CLASSIC, THIS SONG WAS (FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD) ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE FILLER BUT IT'S AWESOME, AND IT'S SORTA NICE SINCE "WAR PIGS" WAS SO LONG AND THIS IS SHORTER. A+ PLANET CARAVAN-THOUGH THIS SONG IS VERY SLOW AND OZZY'S VOICE IS TOTALLY WEIRD THIS SONG IS GREAT. THERE'S A NICE JAZZY SOLO TOWARDS THE END. A+ IRON MAN-YET ANOTHER MIND-BLOWING SONG. IF YOU DON'T KNOW THIS ONE YOU'RE SERIOUSLY BRAIN-DAMAGED. A+ ELECTRIC FUNERAL-HOLY HECK IS THIS GREAT!!!!!!! THE RIFFS ARE SO DISTORTED THAT YOU CAN BARELY HEAR THEM. IT'S A VERY DARK, OMINOUS SONG ABOUT DEATH. A+ HAND OF DOOM-FITS VERY WELL WITH "ELECTRIC FUNERAL" 'CAUSE THIS IS ANOTHER SONG ABOUT DEATH. NOT QUITE SO GOOD THOUGH. A RAT SALAD-THIS SONG IS A VERY NICE, SHORT INSTRUMENTAL PIECE. I Love HOW IT STARTS WITH VIOLIN AND THEN A GUITAR RIFF, VIOLIN AND THEN THE SAME GUITAR RIFF. A- FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS-THIS IS A GREAT, FUNNY AND ALTOGETHER AWESOME SONG. THIS SONG IS SO COOL. A+ FROM THE BEGINNING OF "WAR PIGS" TO THE ENDING OF "FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS" THIS IS AN AWESOME ALBUM.
