The Greatest Cinematic Acheivement Of All Time...

Alright, maybe not. But I can't think of a movie I love more. The parody of all things 80's is hilarious to those of us who suffered through them, though at times it's a tad heavy-handed (I mean, the exotic fish named Mercedes, Beamer, Aston & Martin is a bit...well, heavy-handed). But Geena Davis is cute and funny as a sweet, airheaded manicurist. Julie Brown is hilarious. Julie Brown is ALWAYS hilarious. Jeff Goldblum doesn't say much and is very, very sexy as a shaved alien. Of course, everyone knows that Jim Carrey & Damon Wayans were in this before In Living Color made them into stars. Both are very, very funny. Jeff Goldblum is much more a straight man, but this movie left me with a crush on him that I still have.
This movie is a great send-up of all things 80's, especially the SoCal sex comedies and beach flicks. Someone said that they thought this movie was supposed to bring back musicals. I don't think so. It's too quirky and too strange (I mean, the salon Geena Davis & Julie Brown work at is called "Curl Up and Dye" for gods sake). I don't think it was made to be a blockbuster. It is, however, a really good time. Julien Temple is marvelous with film visuals, and the silly, sexy humor is lots of fun. Get this movie. It's a treat not to be missed.

"I like 'em big...and stupid!"

If you like 'em that way too, then this is the movie for you!
Four very strong leads - Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum and then unknown Jim Carrey and Damon Williams - backed up by Julie Brown deliver a paper-thin story with humor, bright colors and an ineffable sexiness. I think this was an attempt to revive musical-comedy cinema in the late '80s; the previous shining example being "Xanadu". The songs are original, funny and have enjoyed cult status ever since.
This is one of the first movies to show that inter-planetary romances don't have to end with an ova-depositor rammed down your throat.
I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys turing their minds off for an hour and a half of fun.

Ah yes, the 80s

As I sat down to be exposed to Earth Girls are Easy for the first time, I prepared myself for some of the most painful cinematography known to man. Little did I know, I was about to be exposed to one of the most delightfully entertaining and funny movies I have ever seen.
Geena Davis, Jim Carey, Jeff Goldblum and Damon Wayans took a script destined for disaster and somehow created a masterpiece in its own right. The aliens, the musicals, the outlandish props and stupid plot all combined to create one amazingly entertaining movie. It is amazing to see the actors that I mentioned when they were much younger and barely known in the industry, and to see them take such a weird movie to such a high level really displays their raw talent and shows why they eventually make it so big in the industry.
I would highly recommend this movie to anyone wanting to see or show something different, bizarre and totally fun. It certainly is not an ordinary or normal movie, but then again, it was the 80s.
