Heartbreakers

Quick. Make some popcorn, settle into your favorite easy chair, and be prepared to enjoy 2 hours of mindless energetic fun. You won't glean valuable insights into the meaning of the universe, as heartthrob Jason Lee innocently seeks in this lightweight offering, but you will have been pleasantly entertained. The unlikely cast of Weaver, Hewitt, Hackman, and Liotta work suprisingly well. Call it "The Sting" lite. This amusing farce revolves around the exploits of a mother and daughter team of gold digging grifters. Jennifer Love Hewitt as the daughter supplies plenty of eye candy, but her acting skills and comedic timing are first rate. I suspect we will be seeing a lot more of her in the future. You gotta love Gene Hackman as an obnoxious, unrepentant tobacco billionaire who's face seems to be perpetually obscured in a cloud of cigarette smoke. Ray Liotta does not look much older than he did in "Goodfellas" and is hilarious as a shady businessman/love interest for Sigourney Weaver who in a rare comedic appearance, turns in a humorous performance. Several cameos by familiar personalities from television and film are unexpected fun. This is a movie that does not take itself too seriously and does not expect you too either. Enjoy.

Heart Away!

"Heartbrakers" isn't your usual film, but then again, what is in this time of age? Sigourney Weaver ("Ghostbusters", "Ghostbusters 2","The Ice Storm", "Alien Resurrection", "The Wedding Contract"), Jennifer Love Hewitt ("I Know What You Did Last Summer", "Can't Hardly Wait", "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer"), Ray Liotta("Goodfellas", "Blow", "Company Man"), Gene Hackman ("Get Shorty", "Heist"), Jason Lee ("Clerks", "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back"), Jeffrey Jones ("Sleepy Hollow"), and Anne Bancroft ("Keeping The Faith") star in this laugh-out-loud comedy about a mother and daughter scam artist team thats about to get a lesson in the true meaning of love.BR> Max (Weaver) is a loving mother that wants everything to go right for her daughter, Paige (Hewitt). Max and Paige are scam artists who want to catch a "big fish" before retiring from being con artists. Max was just married to a car-salesman (Liotta) with a lot of money and everything takes wrong turn. Max catches Paige with him and the divorce is set. The next and last target is a rich, senior, cigar-smoking man (Hackman) who lives in Palm Beach, Florida. Max and Paige need to set this one off and then they'll have all the money they'll ever need! Max's bank manager (Bancroft) keeps all the money in a locked account for Max, but then runs away with the money. Now, Paige falls in love with a man who has a fortune waiting for him (Lee). What's going on???BR> Love takes several turns in this romantic comedy with sugar, spice, and everything thats nice. Weaver and Hewitt stand at their comedic best in this funny movie. Rent it "Heart Away!"

Heartbreakers (2001)

Sigourney Weaver broke free from ALIEN image and left it behind her and has taken up on a new, sexy image for this hilarious comedy that is directed by David Mirkin.
ANGELA NORDINO (played by Sigourney Weaver) is a beautiful, intelligent woman. But she can never find the right man to be with. She has already been married twelve times, but they always seemed to end after 24 hours after she catches her them with another woman. Her divorce settlements helped cheer Angela up, since all the men she has married were, indeed, very wealthy. Angela has finally found the right one: DEAN CUMANNO (played by Ray Liotta), a wealthy businessman in the automobile business. They have dated for four months and their wedding day has finally arrived. After their reception, Dean and Max head upstairs and gear up for the consummation, but Angela seemed to have a little too much wine, for she has passed out on the bed. She wakes up the next morning, claiming to be sick to the stomach. Dean has to run to the office for an hour or two before they leave for their honeymoon. He arrives at the office and checks on a Mercedes, which is his wedding gift to Angela. His secretary, WENDY (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt), is writing up the necessary papers for the Mercedes. He signs the papers and Wendy goes on her way seems to have accidentally dropped the papers, which leads Dean into kissing Wendy. He stops himself, remembering that his married, but Wendy is sexy as hell, so how can he resist. Angela walks in and finds Dean with Wendy. Angela is now filing for her thirteenth divorce. Angela's divorce settlement is another great success, where she made $300,000 and the Mercedes. Angela drives up to a gas station and finds Wendy exiting a cab. She heads over to Angela and takes off, what seems to be, a wig. This whole thing was all planned out. 'Angela Nordino' is not her real name. Her real name is MAX CONNERS. 'WENDY' is not Dean's secretary's real name. Her real name is PAIGE CONNERS and she is Max's daughter. Paige is Max's beautiful daughter and the two work as mother-daughter con artists, where Max leads the men into a serious relationship and then leads them to the alter. Paige comes in as the men's secretary and seduces them the day after the wedding, causing Max to file for divorce and receive a hefty divorce settlement.
After this one, Paige wants to go off on her own, thinking Max has taught her everything she needs to know. Max finally agrees and the two go to New York to divide up their money. But when they get to New York, they meet GLORIA VOGAL (played by Ann Bancroft), who works for the IRS. Seems as though the IRS has taken all of Max and Paige's money and the two have only 90 days to pay. In the car, Max is handing Paige the money she needs to survive on her own, but Paige agrees to pull one more con in order to help pay off the IRS and go her own way. They relocate to Palm Beach, Florida. Not only do they pull off love-cons, they pull off every con
