Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday | Year: 1993 Classification: Horror Directed: - Adam Marcus Actors/Actresses: - John D.LeMay - Kari Keegan as Jessica - Erin Gray as Diana Stupid, but fun to watch.. Jason goes to hell The final Friday, the supposed last in the series(well they lied, Jason X is coming up)is one of the better in the series but is still very dumb. The movie starts off with big ol' Jason gettin blown to pieces in some kind of police ambush. So Jasons spirit takes over a doctor now, (who was studying jasons remains and eats his heart, for some reason)and now all of a sudden jason has a nice new body and so he heads home to do battle with his sister. But this wont be easy for jason as he will have to get by Creighton Duke, a bounty hunter who wants to send jason to hell, but he will need the help of jessica(who is related to jason all-of-a-sudden) as she is the only one who can really kill jason and put him away for good. The movie has a really fun conclusion as we get to see jason go to hell( or at least until Jason X like i said). But nonetheless it is an improvement over part 8 which was really screwed up.. Best Friday The 13th Film, Hands Down! So, it doesn't follow the original story, so it's not very scary, so there's some obviuos mistakes, but who cares? As long as a movie is thrilling, exciting, entertaining, witty, clever, it's good entertainment. Jason Goes To Hell takes a different turn for the Friday series but spicing it up with supernatural sub-plots and things of the sort. It also is pretty much unedited in terms of the gore. If you're watching the Unrated Director's Original Cut, feel safe you're seeing the make-up mans vision uncut! This entry loads up on trucks full of blood and buckets of guts, not to mention one of the most extremely graphic sex scenes ever put on screen. And with all this, its succeeds admirably at being a non-stop roller coaster ride! (...) By Part VII, the typical "Jason stalks teens a Crystal Lake and slaughters them" plot got very dull, and sending Jason to the big apple in Part VIII didn't help much either, but this was a breath of fresh air. And, for once, the acting is good! John D. LeMay tackles the nerdy hero role quite well, and you find yourself rooting for him quite often (he also has the pleasure of saving the day about 10,000 times), and Kari Keegan was great as Jessica. Again, Kane Hodder brings some strange sort of a dimension to Jason, even if his screen time is limited. He also plays the security guard with the beard at the mourge. Man, has he got muscles! Also, Erin Gray was just terrific as Diana. Yes, she does seem to be taking her role way to seriously, but she's playing an important part, and she plays it quite well. And who could forget Rusty Schwimmmer as Joey B.? She's downright hilarious! And Billy Green Bush has a small appearance, as well. Wait! I almost forgot to mention Steven Williams awesome portrayol of Duke! Man, this guy's great! He's my favorite character of the whole series. Anyway, for those of you who don't plan to watch this film because there's no teens or sex, never fear! There's both! (...) Anyway, Jason Goes To Hell is a great film, and if you know you're not getting your typical Friday film, you'll love it! A worthy sequel but not a proper ending Well, at this point, what can you expect from a Friday the 13th movie? Bad acting, gore, nudity. And believe me, Jason Goes to Hell delivers all of those in excess (especially for those of us who own the unrated edition). The acting is so horrible, but you don't even really care because the movie is SO entertaining. Lots of blood and lots of nudity, which are the things that every F13 fan loves and expects in these movies. There are a lot of really cool killings, most of them happen in the restaurant scene in the last half of the movie. The problem with this movie however is that the ending is so hokey (even though I am a Freddy fan) and overall the movie just doesn't feel final in the way that Halloween H20 (Even though there's a sequel coming), and Wes Craven's new Nightmare did. Jason Goes to Hell doesn't offer enough closure and in order to enjoy a finale you must go deeper into the characters and have a REALLY good story, that afterwards you think to yourself "There's no point in them trying to top this." I think the execs at New Line are pretty much on the same wavelength as me, seeing how Jason X will be released in March and a Freddy Vs. Jason is already in the works. Keep 'em coming. Unworthy of your valuable time "Jason Goes To Hell" blatantly rips off "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." It doesn't even attempt to cover it up. But what do you expect in a film that was literally written in a weekend? Now, there are a lot of Friday the 13th fans out there, and many of them are die-hard loyalists to the "Jason mythology," which includes, believe it or not, a list of rules of what he can and cannot do. This film tosses out all those rules and says, "Let's up the make-up budget by $100,000 and forget about everything else." So in this film you get graphic and creative murders, but little substance to keep the red gooey stuff sticking together. A wave of embarrassment washes over you ever time a character opens his or her mouth. You think to yourself, "Is this my life? Am I really watching this movie?" and then you realize yes, you are, so you'd better cope or get help now, friend, or it's going to be a long, brutal old age. Even though they cannot target these types of films to kids -- those bastards at the MPAA have ethics and standards -- this is one of those films that is. Full of glistening red gory stuff, your children will love eating this up. They'll sleep like little angels, too. It's a shame that with its budget and the cool new look Jason gets, this film had to suck tailpipe so hard. It's even more so a shame that this is Part 9 in a series that hasn't decided to quit yet. When people will tire of relentless gore is beyond me ... but I really hope it doesn't end. Honestly, the slasher flicks in the eighties represented a time when Americans wanted to get scared on cheap effects and bad scripts. It worked, and movies such as Friday the 13th became massively successful. The modern horror genre has "smartened up" and become "hip," and now its died down into the deepest pits of remake hell. So the Friday the 13th series, as well as those other quickie gore-fests during that blissful Ronny Reagan time period, hold a special place in America's heart. "Jason Goes To Hell" holds a place at the bottom of the toilet, floating amongst the throw-away goo of a dissatisfied audience.
