An solid Sequel.

A few years later, Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) has another problem, when a great white Shark, has come to the oceans of the waters of a small town named Amity. Since it`s attacked on some of the people from the town. Brody has to deal again, once more with the killer shark.
Directed by Jeannot Szwarc (Somewhere in Time, Supergirl, Santa Claus:The Movie) and Written by Carl Gottieb and Howard Sackler. This sequel was a success in Theaters but not as Big as in the Original. Orignally Steven Spielberg and Richard Dreyfuss wanted to be back in the Sequel but they were busy with another film projects. This sequel has less gore than the Original but a little more Violent than the Original. DVD`s has an fine anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and the Original 2-channel Mono Soundtrack. I wonder why Universal didn`t remastered the Sound in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD Extras are:A Documentary, Four Deleted Scenes:Including-A Extended Sniking Helicopter scene, a Featurette with now Filmmaker:Keith Gordon, a Featurette with Composer:John Williams, Trailers and more. This a well made respectable Sequel. Panavision. Grade:A-.

A very solid sequel

I was only 4 when the original groundbreaking film Jaws was first released in 1975. In 1978, I was old enough to see Jaws 2. A film, that while it pales in comparison to Spielberg's classic, it's still an exciting and enjoyable action thriller.
The story takes place several years later and focuses on Martin Brody's (Roy Scheider) two sons and their group of teenaged friends. The summer resort island of Amity is once again facing a threat from a great white shark. After several mysterious deaths Brody is convinced that a another shark is lurking in the waters. The Mayor and town council think otherwise. Brody's two sons and a large group of their friends take off in their sailboats and big trouble ensues. Acting alone, it's up to Brody to come to the rescue.
While lacking the intial shock and surprise Jaws generated, this sequel manages to capture a couple of nice surprises. The film's big climax is geniunely exciting. Roy Scheider delivers a first rate performance. The young cast does fine as the periled day sailors. John William's score is simply terrific and in some ways better than than his music for the original. Director Jennot Szwarc does a nice job in his direction and generates enough tension and suspense to make this a worthwhile sequel. The two following sequels are best to be forgotton.

Saw It Once and That's It!!!

I was excited at the age of 17 when I heard that a sequel to Jaws was coming out only three years after the first movie. I went, saw it and was not too impressed, however. The Brody boys had aged a bit since the first movie (different actors this time), Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) gets the axe and another aggressive shark prowling off the shores of Amity Island looking for victims, picking up where the deceased shark left off. Some movies that have been a box office smash usually have sequels, and most of these have not been successful. As for this movie, Jaws II did not fit the criteria as the first Jaws movie did and I would not purchase a DVD or a VHS on sequels such as this. Total waste of time!!!
