She was born on June 3, 1982 in Volgograd in Russia. In 2004 and 2005 she broke several times the pole vault world record. She won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens with a world record of 4.91. In September 2004 she jumps a neew world record of 4.92 in Brussels in Belgium. In July 2005 she sets a new world record at 4.93 during the IAAF Super Grand Prix in Lausanne in Switzerland.
