madonna video collection 1993 99 | Year: 1999 Classification: Music Video - Pop/Rock Directed: - Chris Cunningham (II) - David Fincher - Brett Ratner - Johan Renck - Jonas Ã…kerlund - Jean-Baptiste Mondino - Melodie McDaniel - Michael Haussman - Stephane Sednaoui - Walter Stern An Almost Complete Collection of Madonna's Best Videos With a spectacular cover photography by David LaChapelle, Madonna's "93:98 Video Collection," is a great addition to any music lover's collection. As a pioneer of daring, thought-provoking videos, Madonna has always been on the forefront of creating styles and opinions. On this video collection, most (but not all) of Madonna's videos produced in the past decade are included for everyone's viewing pleasure. While such videos as "Bedtime Story," are amazing when it comes to their composition and imagination, others like "Love Don't Live Here Anymore," are simple in their theme and imagery. I was disappointed in the same way I was with her prior video collection, that some videos were omitted from the compilation. If she was able to add a live performance of "Vogue," on the "Immaculate Collection" compilation, she could have added more to this collection. Videos such as "You'll See," "Erotica," "Justify My Love," and "This Use to Be My Playground," which were released during the 1990's have been totally omitted, which is a complete shame. However, the video that I was looking forward in seeing, "I Want You," was also ommitted. This video, which was based on the short theatrical piece "La Voix Humaine," revolves around a woman awaiting for a call from her lover who has left her. In what I consider a very powerful (and long) video, Madonna portrays a woman exhausted by the long wait. Filmed in black & white, this is one of her most moving videos. Another two things I would have to see on this collection would have been the option to see the lyrics appear on the screen, in addition to motion menus that allows the viewer to get a preview of each video before actually playing it (similar to the motion menus on the "Matrix" DVD). In conclusion, I hope whenever Madonna releases her new video compilation (which most likley will include the videos from her upcoming album "Music," and videos made in between ("American Pie"), I hope she decides to also add all the videos she omitted in the prior two releases, so that her fans can enjoy them as much as the first time we saw them on television. WHO'S THAT GIRL? Who is Madonna, Really? After having other Madonna videos and seeing close ups of her I was expecting something similar. This video has higher cost production and more background settings during the making. I was surprised some videos were not included that would've added a lot and made it better. I enjoyed mostly the following videos: Secret, Bedtime Story, Frozen, The Power of Goodbye and Nothing Really Matters. I wish she would have included: Deeper & Deeper, Erotica, What It Feels Like For A Girl, Don't Tell Me, Use To Be My Playground, Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Vogue, and You Must Love Me. I would've put the "1993-PRESENT" and added those. As a TRUE Madonna fan that has been totally captivated by her UNIQUE qualities as an artist, actress, and singer I find her to reveal many different stages of her life. You see her with black hair, brown hair, and blond as you wonder who really is Madonna? It is as if she is looking for herself and discovering her inner soul. There's the fun side of her in Beautiful Stranger and the sexy sides like Bedtime Story and Secret. And of course the sad and romantic like Rain & Take A Bow. I felt this DVD was a good buy for a TRUE Madonna fan and a WANNA BE fan. Having quite a collection of her work I gave her 4 stars because I compared it to all her videos as a whole, which are quite a few. If you don't know whether to buy this DVD don't hesitate because just from seeing her TRUE inner and outer beauty this collection makes it a pleasure to watch, even if it isn't a perfect 5 stars. There's her beautiful make-up, the nice scenery, and the exquisite drama that make it a top choice. The Queen of Pop will ALWAYS be sitting in her throne because no one can TOP Madonna, NOONE. lovelygirl A quick question and I'll be happy if anyone can answer this What song/video is it where Madonna is dressed like a Geisha?
