Motorama | Year: 1993 Classification: Comedy Directed: - Barry Shils Childhood trama, you know i love it If there ever was a funky movie, this would be it. Definately not for everyone, so rent before you even think about buying. The disc is very good quality, no real image quality problems to speak of. The sound was fine, i didnt really notice any problems or any spectacular moments. Extras are pretty much non existant, so dont buy it expecting anything but the movie itself. The film is strange, as stated before the 10 year old boy runs away from home, and goes cross country in a mythical country, very similar to america or canada. along the way he meets a cast of crazy characters, mostly horribly mean, and starts to play a gasstation game, MOTORAMA. There isnt much more to the movie. It consists of Gus buying/stealing motorama cards then getting beat up, i nthat order for a good hour. Then the ending comes up, and unless you like thinking about your movies your gonna hate the ending. It is very stange, and you kinda have to draw your own conclusion as to whats going on. The ending reminded me of Baron Munchausen's finale. The acting isnt spectaular, the script isnt astounding, but its fun enuff to watch once just for entertainemnt value. rent this when you have nothing better to do o na rainy afternoon. Not really a movie to watch with anyone but a group of film nerds or close friends. Once again rent before you buy. If you can't find it to rent, then make sure you like quirky films before you purchase it. It may not be independent, but it sure feels that way BLOWN OUT!!!!! GREAT LATE NIGHT MOVIE!! I first saw this movie at like 3a.m. on a Saturday night three years ago, I was extremely tired but the storyline was so weird, that I had to continue watching it while forcing myself not to fall asleep. I soon realized that I was witnessing the most mind-boggling piece of film that I had ever seen! This kid makes a pedal extender, steals his parents' car, and takes off through the desert on a hypnotic journey that nobody will ever understand. Anybody who claims to understand this movie doesnt know what they're talking about. Whoever wrote this movie was a genius!! The weird characters, the strange scenery changes, the awesome soundtrack (written by Andy Summers), and the absolutely INSANE ending make for a real interesting experience. The scenery is beautiful, and complements the story so well. If you are not extremely open-minded, not willing to accept the fact that this movie is un-analyzable, or if you get easily angered by nonesense, please do not watch this movie. If you are intelligent, open-minded and love wacked out stories, either buy or rent this movie whenever you can......trust me, it's worth it!!!!A must see!!! What the Hell? Okay, so the kid is getting the letter. No one notices he is 10, gets the R, blah blah blah. The reason this movie is abysmal is the ending. What in God's name were they thinking? He gets "motorama" and tries to claim his prise, but there is none; and after being thrown out of a sckyscraper what does our protaginst do? He hitchhikes back to the first gas station and takes the attendent job, fills up the car of a man who won 1 million dollars..the man is hit by a truck.. Credits roll after he has a meaningless 3(short)sentence conversation with the owner......and that's all. I feel the need to repeate, What in God's name were they thinking?
