Quarterback Princess | Year: 1983 Directed: - Noel Black Actors/Actresses: - Helen Hunt as Tami Maida - Daphne Zuniga - Dahphne Zuniga Excellent family entertainment Our family enjoys this video and we've watched it over and over. It is clean family entertainment. It not only promotes going after one's dreams, no matter what the obstacles, but deals with family loyalty, togetherness, and friendship. The Maidas Of Prince George I was fortunate enough to have gone to school (Prince George College) with the younger Maida girls (Heidi & Gidget), having never had the pleasure of meeting the Quarterback Princess. I actually didn't know any of this when they were there, it's only years later that I found out who they were.
This is a very inspiring story and a very good movie. Helen Hunt is very credible as Tami Maida. This movie was the 'Rudy' of the 80's. Highly recommended.
They should've covered the Prince George years too, I could've been a pretty good subplot. generally good. I wasn't old enough to catch this when it first aired, but Encore's True Stories channel recently covered the made for t.v. movie. Although it isn't of the best film quality, the moral is strong and universal: never listen to the flock, it tends to lead you astray. It's also interesting to see Helen Hunt in her pre-Mad About You days. However, when watching this true story about a teenage girl who longs to play football in a small town, don't expect modern Hollywood special effects or a deep philosophical script; what you expect from 1983 made-for-tv is exactly what you get.
