Rush Hour 2 | Year: 2001 Classification: Action/Adventure Country: USA Language: English Directed: - Brett Ratner Actors/Actresses: - Jackie Chan - Don Cheadle - James Lew - Michiko Nishiwaki - Jeremy Piven - Chris Tucker - Zhang Ziyi This summer's most enjoyable and fun movie! Forget about what the critics said, with all the negative reviews out there I thought Rush Hour 2 was just more of the same thing, instead, this was the most fun I've had watching a movie this year. Director Brett Ratner did a great job with this sequel, more laughs with non-stop action, this is one film you should not miss in a summer filled with disappointments. On vacation in Hong Kong, Inspector Lee and Detective Carter finds themselves in the midst of another case, this time they are after a triad boss dealing in smuggling and money laundering. Although we've learned not to expect too much in the plot of an action movie, Rush Hour 2 actually offered a decent story, with a few twists thrown in. The strength of this film rests on the chemistry between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, and since the characters already have a relationship with each other, it's great to see those two being so comfortable in the roles and having so much fun with it. At 47 Chan is still agile and it's still a delight to watch him in action; Tucker on the other hand was able to be funny without being overbearing. Even though Zhang Ziyi had almost no dialogue, she held her own portraying the bad girl on a mean streak, beautiful yet deadly, a powerful combination. Rush Hour 2 is definitely a crowd pleaser, don't go in with a high expectation, and you'll find it surprisingly enjoyable, there was never a dull moment. Be sure to stay for the blooper reel at the end, and you know what, Rush Hour 3 doesn't seem like such a bad idea now, I actually find myself looking forward to it. A Fantastic Rush Hour 2 Rush Hour 1 sets up a perfect ending to for a second Rush Hour. If you have not seen Rush Hour 1, then you definitely need to watch it prior to viewing an excellent Rush Hour 2. There are some comments made in the sequel that refer to the original. For example, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker leave for vacation to Hong Kong at the ending of the first show. Shortly into Rush Hour 2, we find out that Jackie and Chris are in China enjoying a luscious time. In this movie you will find that Rush Hour 2 makes a great combination of a spectacular movie with a unique mixture of comedy and action. Funnier Then The First... Slick, chaotic, and decently entertaining sequel picks up where the first movie left off. LAPD Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) is on vacation in Hong Kong with his friend, Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan). Carter just wants to relax, have fun, get some "mu shu", but Lee can't stop doing his job even for a minute. This time, he's hot on the trail of gangster Ricky Tan (John Lone), who may have been behind an Embassy bombing. More-of-the-same in terms of content AND style, but still pretty engaging, with lots of action and thrills. Chan and Tucker still share the same chemistry, and overall there are some good laughs. (Worth it just to see Tucker perform Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough"...) For me, one of the perks of this sequel is watching "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" beauty Zhang Ziyi as a very fetching and lethal assassin.
