Santana - Supernatural Live - DTS | Year: 2000 Classification: Music Video - Pop/Rock Santana has not missed a beat in this DVD. I have seen Santana many times over the years. This DVD shows that over time, he has not missed a beat. The music is mostly the compositions from his Supernatural CD. I'll admit that I hate hip hop and rap. But, Santana has managed to incorporate both styles of music with his own to work very effectively. Watch out for the young bald, black drummer. He is really really bad. (Thats slang for great) The 5.1 DTS sound is the best sound option on this DVD. It is wide, spacious and invovling although the low end could have been a little more tighter and deeper. Otherwise, this DVD is a collector's item. Videos don't get much better than this one. A nice mix of music There is a lot of good music on this DVD. And there's no denying that Santana is great at what he does. But he is not at his best here. He brings out a string of guest musicians, whom he does nothing more than accompany with some sporadic and terse guitar runs. He doesn't really seem to get into the performances at all. The performance is simply Santana's failed attempt to recapture his heyday. Still, it's worth having if you're a Santana fan. He could have left out the R&B and hip hop pieces and it would have made for a much better compilation.
