A Great FollowUp

Although Scream 2 doesn't surpass its predecessor, it's definitely an original suspense ride with a new bit of freshness added to it. Sidney Prescott is now in college as a theatre major, with a new group of friends and great new boyfriend. Her life, although still scarred by what happened back in Woodsboro, is seemingly becoming peaceful. But all that ends when Stab, the movie based on her Woodsboro horror, is released. The murders begin again, and Sidney's friends become targets.
Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox-Arquette, David Arquette, and Jamie Kennedy return with a fresh new cast to run from the face they all fear. Scream 2 is undoubtedly -- and like I stated before -- not as good as the original, but the scares and laughs are just as high. The opening scene is one to make anybody uncomfortable in a movie theatre. Kudos to Wes Craven for many brilliantly crafted scenes in Scream 2. I especially love the "Cassandra" theatre scene. It was definitely a heart racer. Another nail biter was the cop car scene. Timothy Olyphant, Elise O'Neil, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Liev Schrieber, Laurie Metcalf, and many more make up the supporting cast, and all are great. Especially Laurie Metcalf. That lady took her role and upped the notch with it. Great performance!
The Scream 2 DVD release is a bit lacking in the supplements department. I suggest purchasing the Scream Trilogy Box Set to get the true special edition of the disc. It's complete with an interesting commentary, hilarious outtakes (Listening to Elise O'Neil {Hallie} screaming different ways was hilarious), interesting deleted scenes (Although the scene with Sarah Michelle Gellar out in the courtyard is still nowhere to be found), behind-the-scenes featurettes, music videos, trailers, and more. It's extras galore on that disc!
Scream 2 is a great follow up to Scream. If only Randy (Jamie Kennedy) and Mickey (Timothy Olyphant) could have fought about their own movie within the movie, Scream 2 will be one of the best movie sequels.

A killer of a sequel

I haven't seen the first of the trilogy, so I can't compare, but whatever standards Scream set, Scream 2 probably matched them, or at least came very close.BR>It starts of with a scene that, as the back of one of the DVD's described, may stop your heart. But I"ve seen worse done by Freddy Krueger. (But I did find out why Ray got a willy through the ear in Scary Movie)BR>Set two years after the Woodsboro murders, Sidney Prescott is now in college and trying to secure a new, happier life. BR>The opening scene, described above, is at a sneak preview of Stab, a slasher flick based on the book, 'The Woodsboro Murders' by reporter Gail Weathers. The police assume this is a once in a lifetime thing, and not going to happen again.BR>Until a sorority's 'sober sister' (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is found dead. A connection is made and the body count continues to rise, before everything comes to the surprising killer revelation.BR>But I got confused by the cover. It has the picture of this black chick who dies in the opening sequence, but normally, the cover people don't die until at least the second murder.BR>And why is Sarah Michelle Gellar's name on the cover as well? She's in two scenes, (one of which was the best in the whole movie.)BR>Still very good, and a must for horror fans.

WHAT A DIFFRENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scream 2 is a million times better than the first Scream, which was teribble. The killer is no longer a wimpy teen like in the last film. This film is aimd to an older audiance( the first was aimed to the teens) which I think was good and it really worked for this one. This plot is about someone who saw a movie called Stab, a film based on what happened in the first Scream, and the film drives him mad and makes him turn into a killer. Okay, I know that sounds like a bad plot on papr, but it's much better on screen. They don't make fun of the old movies as much as they did in the first one( the( the orignal was trying to be serios, not like Scary Movie). If you enjoyed movies like Halloween, then you should like this. Much better than the first movie.
