The Waterdance | Year: 1992 Classification: Drama Directed: - Neal Jimenez - Michael Steinberg Actors/Actresses: - Helen Hunt - Eric Stoltz - Wesley Snipes Probably the best movie most people have never seen. When this movie was first released I was fortunate enough to catch it at an art house movie theater. Had indie films caught on then as they have now, more people would have had the opportunity to see a truly great movie. Funny, intelligent, sad, and empowering, this movie tugs at all of the emotions. If it was not for As Good As It Gets this would be Helen Hunt's best role. Eric Stoltz also has a strong showing, and Wesley Snipes turns out what has to be his best acting job to date. I try to recommend this movie to anyone who says they have never heard of it. One of my top five all time. One of the first great indy films of the 90's Yes, Helen Hunt is nude in this, but that's not the only reason to rent it. There are stellar performances from Stoltz, Forsythe, and Wesley Snipes in what probably was his last serious acting role. This film addresses many difficult topics with wit and bite and humor and pathos, but isn't mawkish or pretentious. Very well made, the camera work and music add subtly to the film- the music at one point becomes almost ragtime, a wild choice for a film about people dealing with hospitals. Overall, one of the best unsung films of the last decade. This film won the Best Film Award at the 1992 Sundance Film Festival, and there's a reason for it. Rent it! You won't be sorry. Great story, very romantic, but man some depressing. The acting was first rate, no complaints, especially William Forsythe's character. This was a very powerful movie about coming to grips with a life-altering accident, then learning to adjust and carry on. The movie is compared to "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" which it does resemble in some ways. Eric Stoltze is very good in the lead role. Helen Hunt is her beautiful self and exceptionally revealing in this movie, she is awesome!!! She is unbelievably gorgeous!!! Do not deny this movie, cause you could be missing something. Although extremely depressing at times, the ending will satisfy. A must see!!!
