He was born on March 1, 1963 in Münstermaifeld in Germany. He has a brother Achim and a sister Tania. In 1979 he gets a recording contract after winning a music competition of the radio station Radio Luxembourg. In 1980 he releases his first single "Judy". In 1981 he made his televion debut. In 1983 he met Dieter Bohlen. Dieter Bohlen produces several German songs for him like "Endstation Sehnsucht" and "Wovon Träumst Du Denn". In 1984 Dieter Bohlen writes the English song "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" and he decides to sing the song together with Thomas. The pop duo Modern Talking was born. The first five singles of Modern Talking all reached the number 1 position in the German charts. In 1987 Modern Talking broke up. In 1984 Thomas married Nora Balling and since them he used to wear a golden necklace with the name of his wife Nora. This necklace, his long brown hair and his brown skin from the solarium lead to a lot of media attention. In 1988 Thomas and Nora seperate. According to an interview in 1998 Thomas has stored the Nora necklace in a safe. After the Modern Talking break up Thomas started a solo career and made several English and Spanish albums, but he only scores small chart hits. In 1998 Modern Talking make a very successful come back. Until 2003 he is successful again as singer of Modern Talking, but in 2003 they split up again. Afterwards he releases a new solo album and scores a top 20 hit in Germany with the song "Independent Girl", which sounds a little bit like his last Modern Talking hits. In 2006 he participates in the German selections for the Eurovision Song Contest. He competed with "Texas Lightning" and former Eurovision Song Contest winner Vicky Leandros for a ticket to Athens, but Texas Lightning won.
