The perfect crime? Not quite.

Scripted by writer Greg Iles from his novel 24 HOURS, TRAPPED is a rather cliched thriller from director Luis Mandoki (ANGEL EYES). However,in spite of this it's still quite tense and entertaining.
Dr. Will Jennings (Stuart Townshend) and his wife Karen (Charlize Theron) are a couple whose idyllic lifestyle takes a turn for the worse when their cute little pixie of a daughter, Abby (Dakota Fanning) is kidnapped and held for ransom by Joe Hickey (Kevin Bacon in ANOTHER bad guy role) and his trashy wife Cheryl Tilly (Courtney Love- who else?). What makes this situation more complicated is the fact that there is a third party involved in the form of Marvin, a balding, pudgy dweeb to help take care of Abby while Joe holds Karen hostage and Cheryl deals to Will. But while for starters the couple play by the rules in order to save their daughter they soon, predictably (That's one word I seem to use a lot) have to in turn manipulate their captors to earn their freedom, save their little girl and return to their normal everyday lives. (In Theron's case that even includes threatening to do a Bobbitt on Bacon's Porksaw when he tries getting fresh with her.) What, you may ask, is the motive for the kidnapping? That would be considered a spoiler; but I will say that the motive is very predictable. In fact, so predictable it makes Tony Blair seem like one of the most interesting men on the planet. This picture is sort of a hybrid of RANSOM and THE TIE THAT BINDS, but strong performances all round and some suspenseful moments all help make TRAPPED a better movie than you'd expect.
DVD extras include a Making Of doco, deleted scenes, commentary by the Director and Screenwriter, an alternate ending for the movie, the film's trailer and bios/filmographies for key cast and crew members.

Trapped-An Acceptable Thriller

Recently, I bought Trapped on DVD and enjoyed it. The film featured some strong performances and intensity, but as some of you know did horribly in the box-office. I was really eager to see this film because I almost had a chance of seeing it in theatres, but you know there was a huge difficulty with that.
Anyway, Trapped is based on the novel: 24 Hours, by Greg Iles. To be honest, I didn't read the book so I can't give you a great comparison but from seeing the movie, which was good I can bet the book would be even better.
The plot of the film is excellent, with a well conceived/concocted plan, devised by Kevin Bacon and Courtney Love, who are the villans so to speak in the film. Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend are a happily married couple and have a daughter. Soon, Kevin Bacon's plan goes into action and he kidnaps her daughter but there's much more to the kidnapping than you think, for it's a kidnapping for ransom. Over a 24 hour
period the couple's money is being extorted into Bacon's and Love's hands. After that period is over the child will be relinquished back into the family's hands. So, the film had a great plot, just perhaps there needs to be a few more developments.
The press didn't screen the movie for reviews, and the film duration in theatres was only for about two weeks, which is sorry
to say very pitiful, but all in all I liked this film and reading
the book would be something I'd like to try. Trapped is rated R for Violence, Language and Sexual Content. There is a thrilling action sequence at the end of the film, which I personally enjoyed. There is actually some excessive profanity, not throughout the film but at some certain parts, as for the sexuality it's fairly brief and not explicit. There isn't any nudity.
Trapped, an interesting thriller, with a plot but just didn't do well enough to be a great film in the eyes of many. Own it today on Video and DVD.

GREAT

With Kevin Bacon being one of my favorite actors and Charlize
Thron being a really talented up and coming actress not to mention how hot she is.Kevin Bacon goes to back to what he does
best and that is play the villan, and he is the villan with that
twisted grin,calm voice,and those killer tatoo's he play's his
best and slimiest villan since Sleepers and River Wild. Now to
the movie this as to be without a doubt the best and most enter-
taining kidnapper movie since Ransom. This movie has it all great
dialogue, character developement, action, and a twist that you really don't see coming.See this movie with in the first 8 -10
minutes of the movie you'll be drawn in to the best movie of it's
genre in recent years.Dont let the credit of the movie(and Kevin
Bacon)fool you he has more screen time in this than Wild Things
were his name is mentioned first in the credits.
